The Creation of Finale
In March of 2011 a friend announced her engagement. While talking about the big day, she mentioned that they would be having cupcakes instead of the traditional cake. Not realizing this was the new trend, I asked her if they would be having a small cake for the "cutting of the cake". When she said no, I stepped up and offered to make one for them. With minimal cake making experience and zero experience with fondant, I began the learning process on how to work with fondant. After many, many attempts, which my co-workers loved, I finally learned how to cover a cake. In May 2011 I delivered my first cake to the Hawley's. I thank them for igniting a passion within me that I love. From there I branched out and became creative by making carved cakes, sculpting sugar figures, sculpting sugar flowers, and even doing some hand painting. After being told over and over again that I had a true talent, I finally decided it was time to pursue a career in the cake business. In January 2014 Finale - Signature Cakes by Lydia was officially launched. As I continue to excel in my self taught skills, I also continue to enjoy the smiles, laughter, and love that I am able to bring to each clients face when they receive their own piece of Art from Finale.
I thank my past and future clients for believing in my skills and allowing me to bring your imagination to life through my Artistry in Cakes.
In June of 2019 the Family decided it was time to open a storefront.....and just like that, a lease was signed and the paperwork process to get the store up and running has begun! Because of this I decided to add other sweets to my menu.....you can never go wrong with more sweets. :) So, what did this mean.....a new name. We decided on Lydia's Cakes & Confections.
The storefront should be up and running in Maple Valley soon........
